President Abdul Hamid said that the present government has taken massive steps to modernize the Coast Guard. By 2030, the mechanisms and technical capabilities of the force are being increased to build the Coast Guard as a modern two-dimensional force.
The President said this in a message given on Wednesday on the occasion of the 24th founding anniversary of Coast Guard and Bangladesh Coast Guard.
On the occasion of establishing the ‘Coast Guard Day-2019’ and conveyed greetings and congratulations to all the members of the army, the President said, “Most of the country’s commercial activities are managed by the sea route. The fair use and protection of natural and mineral resources of the country’s huge marine areas are essential for national development of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Coast Guard members will perform their duties with utmost devotion and sincerity in the security of the country’s water and coastal areas – this is the expectation of all. ‘
He said that since the establishment of the Coast Guard, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been playing an active role in protecting law and order, suppressing the oppression, illegal entry, human trafficking, smuggling and protecting fisheries and forest resources in the watershed and coastal areas of the country.
Expressing hope that the Bangladesh Coast Guard and all the concerned organizations will continue efforts to curb drug smuggling, Abdul Hamid said that the forces are making significant contribution in the rescue and rescue operations in the coastal areas during natural disasters, prevention of environmental pollution. Special surveillance should be increased to stop the smuggling of various drugs and drugs by waterways.
